The Details:
The item came in a branded brown cardboard box, but was well packaged, and everything inside was well protected. This included the pack itself, an instruction leaflet, and a short USB to Micro USB cable.

The instructions are fairly comprehensive, and cover all of the relevant detail.

The power bank itself is a well build block of battery, so not a very light item, but then batteries seldom are. The unit weighs 353grams. The case is sleek and streamlined, and should fit in a pocket, measuring 14cm in length.

The power pack has few controls, as there is nothing really to do, and the device is very much plug and play. There are 2 USB sockets and a micro USB socket. One of the USB sockets is capable of delivering 1A, while the 2nd USB port can deliver a full 2.1A. This is useful for charging tablets, and other higher power items. The 1A is perfectly fine for recharging mobile phones and other similar smaller gadgets. I tested this using my Apple Iphone 5s, which charged perfectly well in either port. While recharging gadgets, the unit displays its current capacity on the battery level indicator.

The unit is charged using the supplied USB to Micro USB cable (see photos), which is 25cm in length. When charging, the 5 blue indicator lamps light up on the top of the unit, to show the charging process.

When not charging, the units battery level can be checked using the power button adjacent to the USB sockets, which is an excellent feature if you only use the pack periodically and cannot remember its current charge level.

The pack also has a very handy torch function, which is turned on with the same power button. For a small LED, it really does give out a bright light.

Summary:
Overall, the SELECTEC 18000mAh external battery pack is a very capable power pack, which is compact enough to keep in a pocket, yet powerful enough to be of use, and with sufficient capacity to last a while between charges. The integral torch is a great bonus.

My search for comfortable headphones is finally over

Review of Selectec Bluetooth 4.1 Speaker

I am a fan of Bluetooth speakers. I have a small collection of them and use different styles for different reasons. I have a large cylinder speaker that is great for outdoor use and I have a colored LED speaker that lights up with music. Music really puts me in a good state of mind and helps me think so I always have something playing in the background. Having a speaker that provides amplification to what my phone puts out just makes things easier for me. So, when I was given the opportunity to test out the Selectec Bluetooth 4.0 Speaker, I accepted quickly as it’s got a unique design and will fit nicely in my collection.

The Selectec speaker is a solid product. It’s made from heavy-duty materials and just feels strong. It’s smaller in body but has a big sound. It easily fills a room (my office is 10 x 10 and it sounded great there). The speaker is a pretty standard Bluetooth speaker. In addition to the Bluetooth connection, you can also plug in an auxiliary cable for your device. It’s a very versatile device in that respect. With it utilizing Bluetooth 4.0, I didn’t have any issues connecting my iPhone to it. It stayed connected and only took a few seconds to make the initial connection.
I love this speaker’s size. As I already mentioned, it’s small – 6.8 x 5 x 4.3 inches – but solid – it weighs 1.5 pounds. So, it’s not exactly what I would classify as ‘portable’ or for ‘on the go’. I see it more as a speaker that you keep on a desk or bedside table. It’s not something you would grab-n-go with. Because it doesn’t take up much space and is forward-facing, I think it’s ideal for an office or bedroom.

The Selectec speaker puts out a great sound. It’s clear and powerful – from such a small box. In addition to the standard speaker function, the Selectec speaker also has a built-in microphone for hands-free speaker phone calling. It’s nice to have that as an option, but not something I usually use. It’s a really nice option for a quality speaker. You Only Need One Charger!

I purchased this high capacity 40W/8A 6 USB output so that I could charge multiple devices, to include a smartphone, tablet, camera, and Bluetooth devices simultaneously. The Smart Ports automatically detects my devices to give me optimum charging speeds, which is comforting because the last thing I would want is to be concerned with possibly messing up my device just by merely trying to charge it. When I plug my devices in I need to know that they are charging, charging quickly, and charging safely. I do not need to think that they are going to be damaged in any way or that they are not going to be charged at all. I need to know that I will come back to fully charged, fully functional devices.

It is lightweight and easy to carry which is excellent for popping into my laptop bag for work. The foldable hideaway plug is perfect and I find it quite functional. It keeps the plug from scraping all of my papers and reports up inside of my bag. I obviously cannot see the hidden blue LED indicator and I cannot comment on that.

I can comment in detail on the way that the charging port simplifies the multiple USB cables that you may have to charge your devices. The simplification is exemplary, which you can see in the pictures in this review. First see the ridiculous mess in the before shot, then see the simplified order in the after shot. The after shot is what I am all about. The before shot made my head hurt just by looking at it.
